Whether you have chronic pain, migraines, difficulty sleeping, tight shoulders, TMJ, sciatica, frozen shoulder, or back pain from old injuries, etc. for this session, trigger points will be our focus (or acupressure in tender areas); by following pain referral pathways, the aim will be to ensure tensions held in the body are dissipated. Trigger point therapy massage includes locating and applying pressure to ‘triggers’ for 90 seconds at least per spot of tension. This is often done using a Thai reflexology tool made of wood. While trigger point specialists may work one point or area for an entire session, Mandi aims to begin the releasing process; providing attention to multiple spots which are calling for attention. This also allows for the session to be relaxing as well as lend more time for actual massage. For folks looking for a single-point focus session of a deeply embodied trigger point, please reach out to Mandi directly as she can refer you to a practitioner who approaches sessions in that way.

Trigger point massage pairs well with fire-cupping and recent studies have been published in support of this combination!

*trigger point therapy is an experimental approach to manual therapy; while there is legitimate science behind this modality and/but there may be placebo effect as well; it is important that clients understand there are not hard evidence based options for pain relief out there but I stand by the potential of this modality in combination with lifestyle changes; for more on this topic, please feel free to ask questions; I’m here to work with you – to reduce your pain symptoms and to become more aware of changes so as not to continue to embody the same patternsnot so you feel reliant on manual therapy alone for a particular period of time
