Thank you for booking a hypnomassage @ Body Drift Healing Arts

BODY DRIFT strives to ensure that clients feel supported, educated, and safe in their experience of this unique combination of modalities. To do so, here’s an overview of what you can expect for your visit. Please review before your session.

Hypnomassage is a therapeutic technique that combines the physical relaxation benefits of massage with the mental focus of hypnosis. Through calming touch and guided suggestions or visualization (similar to meditation), these sessions aim to release tension in the body while also promoting deep states of mental relaxation, stress relief, and emotional well-being with longer-lasting results than either modality on its

own

Brief Hypnosis Facts

● Hypnosis is not sleep— it’s a natural state of focused, relaxed awareness. We experience states of hypnosis often in our daily lives (for ex. zoning out while driving or while daydreaming) ● Hypnosis works through cooperation, not mind control. You stay in control. Nobody can make you do anything against your will.

● Your brain changes in trance. Studies show increased theta brainwave activity and altered pain perception — your brain literally shifts how it processes experience.

● It’s a powerful tool for healing. Clinical research supports hypnosis for pain management, stress reduction, trauma recovery, and breaking habits to name a few.

● Under hypnosis, the mind becomes more receptive to new beliefs and patterns — it’s like updating your mental software. You will determine your ‘new program’ by setting goals that will be offered back to you as suggestions. Suggestions = self-programming.

Realistic Outcomes & Ongoing Work

Many clients will experience subtle yet meaningful shifts during or after a hypnomassage session. These may include softer breathing, reduced tension, a calmer mind, and/or a gentle increase in clarity and energy. Because hypnomassage supports the nervous system rather than forcing it, changes often build gradually—session by session. Some clients may feel immediate relief; others notice changes over several sessions. Responses vary depending on stress levels, sleep, health history, and nervous-system sensitivity. This is also, in part, due to the mind’s anatomy. Sometimes the ‘critical factor’ of the subconscious needs time to connect and build trust before it believes the suggestions (which are actually your own thoughts and words).

In line with Carl Jung’s beliefs, Body Drift Healing Arts advocates hypnosis as a TOOL to develop greater inner awareness (interoception) and healing. However, meeting goals often requires collaboration and ongoing effort. In other words, hypnomassage sessions are not ‘perfect/one size fits all’ or ‘a magic cure’; rather, they

support clients in returning to homeostasis and work to rewire outdated systems/beliefs. Clients often locate more sustainable and comfortable baselines/ways of being over time.

Should I book one session or pre-purchase a 4-pack?

If clients choose to book ONE SESSION, ideally, the goal is straightforward; for example, ‘I need support with sleep bc I am stressed’. For one time sessions, it is highly encouraged that clients consent to and regularly listen to the recording of their hypnotic journey, at a minimum. This allows the subconscious to continue to receive the suggestion. In addition, please follow your practitioner’s recommendations if they offer ‘homework’ in support of your healing process.

FOUR PACKS OF SESSIONS are the best approach to addressing a specific goal that has layers. For example: ‘’I have low/anxious/angry (etc) energy bc… I went through a traumatic event, which … continues to affect me in x and y ways’

Session Flow

● Upon arrival, there will be a brief intake process for you to share your goals and define the suggestions for your session

● You will then have the opportunity to ask questions

● Next, the practitioner will give you privacy to transition from the seated area to the massage table.

● Once on the table, your practitioner will guide you through a meditation unique to your goals; this step may include guided imagery, progressive muscle relaxation, and/or breathing techniques ● Once the level of relaxation is achieved for suggestion, your practitioner will verbally communicate your goals

● If your goals are associated with a bodily sensation, the massage will focus on that area of the body; otherwise, a relaxation massage will begin (some sessions may begin with massage first) ● Throughout the massage, your goals or desire for change will be reinforced

● Please note, in these sessions, clients will not be asked questions or to communicate further once on the table – this will allow for the modalities to work better together

What You May Experience

● You will likely relax into a trance state during hypnomassage

● It is likely that you ALREADY relax into trance states during massage sessions ● That being said, you may notice deeper relaxation and the effects last longer than usual after the session

Post-Hypnomassage

● At the end of your massage, you will be gently guided out of trance, and your practitioner will exit the space

● Once you are ready, your practitioner will return for a debrief – to allow for sharing and processing before returning to the material world

● Please allow yourself a bit of leeway after sessions (10-15 minutes at least before you drive); walk around, get grounded, or relax in the chairs in the hallway before leaving

Trauma-Aware Session Disclaimer

Hypnosis has the potential to bring up powerful feelings, memories, and even traumatic past events. It is possible to feel a range of emotions in a session. Just like one might feel sadness, anger, or grief during or even leaving a talk therapy session, for example, the same outcomes are possible with hypnomassage. Any

feeling(s) that arise, however, present an opportunity for investigation, understanding, and growth. Each session will unfold in its own way; in the way it should. In other words, the subconscious only reveals what you (the client) are ready to process. Your practitioner may offer additional tools/homework to support the integration of your experience. In addition, your practitioner has allotted time after your hypnomassage to debrief and allow you to recenter.
