Why ONLINE Hypnotherapy? Recently, I’ve had clients ask why I’m encouraging hypnotherapy sessions to be online. This is a great question, and I’m honestly surprised by my response! An old narrative of mine was that ‘online spaces could not be as powerful’. I went so far as to resist learning how to facilitate online, even…
I guess if I had to be ‘pinned, ‘ you could partially box me in as an anti-capitalist, atheist Buddhist who has lived across the country from family and close friends for almost a decade. That being said, I have rarely joined in on popular US holiday festivities other than Halloween. Recently, a friend of…

This year has caused absolute havoc on our nervous systems. Regardless of whether folks were directly affected by the Eaton Canyon fires or ICE raids, the collective trauma is heavy. To make matters worse, our administration continues to baffle us by stripping us of democracy, inflicting violence on communities of color, invoking fear in trans…
Who knew a fire could open up old ”healed” wounds? Well, I’m here to learn and unlearn once again from abandonment trauma. This felt vital and worth a share.
Monday night my teacher gave a talk on the 5 hindrances and how doubt is the final one to ‘overcome before enlightenment’. In other words, doubt plagues us all to varying degrees. http://tarabrach.com/awakening-from-the-trance/

“Ubuntu” is an ancient African term that is often translated as “I am because we are” or (“I am because you are”). First and foremost, ubuntu reflects an understanding of shared or common humanity. It is a philosophy that advocates for collectivism over individualism. It asserts that such a society gives human beings a sense…

d i s c l a i m e r —> Back in massage school (a 2 year program at a community college) I spent year 1 dedicated to learning as much as humanly possible (for me) and the 2nd year questioning everything I had ‘come to know’. Often times, my experiences were not always in alignment with the research or it seemed there was a lack of evidential support behind the power of touch, embodiment, and compassion. By the time I hit grad school, I rapidly lost all faith in much of what I came to ‘know’ through intellectualization & the study of concepts. Lately, I’ve been working through this tension of integrating my experiential knowledge with client feedback along with what I learned through elder medicine women, through Eastern philosophy, and a bunch of ‘crappy ‘poorly conducted’ or unfunded or undeveloped research studies. Suffice to say, when clients ask me questions I tend to fumble through ‘what I was once told’ ‘what I discovered on my own’ and ‘what the ”research” says’ and the argument against it. It’s a whole mental bjj match. I often end up responding with a multi-layered answer – ”according to x research…” ”and yet this…” so ….”if you’re curious, try it and see // whatever works for you”. I don’t know if it’s exhausting to be on the other end of this but I’m dedicated to honesty and I will not hesitate to say ‘i don’t know.’ It doesn’t make for a great salesman because I probably won’t beg you to come back soon. But if I do recommend you to return for another session, I mean it for your benefit not for my financial gain. That being said, I get a lot of questions from clients about stretching, movement, and pain / stress / and anxiety management. I’ll share what I’ve picked up along the way here. Please only use what resonates with you and leave the rest behind.
In addition, I have been sharing readings and resources at the intersections of spiritual or contemplative practice/ philosophy/ crit theory/ psychology/ and medical anthropology for years.
